Day 2
After your morning wake-up call and breakfast (6:30 am), transfer to report to the park headquarters (7:00 am), for Gorilla trekking formalities and briefing by the Volcanoes National Park’s guides on the Gorillas’ etiquette. Then drive on the brim of Parc National des Volcans, depending on the group or family of gorilla that you will be allocated to trek. The gorilla safari here commences at about 2000 meters above sea level in the upmost slopes of the Volcanoes, led by experienced trackers who have spent their entire lives living in or close to the forest - time will vary with how close they will be and it is unpredictable because gorilla tracking takes place in their natural habitats also depending on the ape’s movements, some families are not far others are quite fast moving that it may take you longer hours to find them - Your trek will be captivating as you merge through pending vines, moss-covered Hagenia trees and giant Lobelias that thrive in the tropical climate. The high point, of course, one of the greatest wildlife experiences on earth, will be spending an hour with the gentle giant gorillas as they go about their daily life, feeding, playing, resting, and raising their young. After Gorilla trekking transfer to the Lodge for Lunch, and after then visit the Ibyiwacu Cultural village where you enjoy the cultural exchange at the village. This village offers a number of activities and the opportunity to experience Rwandan traditional living and what makes it authentic. Grind millet and sorghum on the local grinding stone to make food, cycle a wooden bicycle around the village, shoot arrows with the people, listen to village elders explain their traditions and practices and so much more. There is even the opportunity to enjoy the traditional Intore dancers.
Overnight and Dinner at the Mountain Gorilla View Lodge.
