Consisting of 84 Islands some large and dotted with local fishing villages, other small and uninhabited. Main landers traditionally revere Ssese is the island of the gods and one specific island called Bubembe is regarded to be home of Mukasa, the spirit presiding over Lake Victoria.

The Ssese Islands make an Ideal retreat after a long Safari. It has very clean beaches & good hotels. Its an ideal place for bird watching, fishing, swimming, canoeing, forest walk and game viewing. All these are offered by Atlas African Safaris. Game viewing include:- hippos, crocodiles, antelopes, chimpanzees.. The islands can be reached from Port bell or Entebbe. It takes about 45 minutes to the islands.
